Veteran of the Month ceremony in the Bantam Borough Hall

BANTAM: On October 7, 2023, American Legion Post 44 will hold their monthly Veteran of the Month ceremony.

BANTAM: On October 7th, American Legion Post 44 will hold their monthly Veteran of the Month ceremony. It will take place at 10 a.m. at the All Wars Memorial in Bantam Cemetery; conducted by members of American Legion Post 44 with the help of veterans from Post 27, Post 28 and Post 137. Buglers, Mike Magnifico and Rob Fragione, and a military item display by Bill Spring will also be part of the ceremony.
The honor flag of United States Veteran Frank W. Pennington, Jr. formerly of Torrington will be retired after flying for the month of September. Then the ceremony will turn to United States Army, World War II veteran, Private Alfred Ciano, late of Waterbury, Connecticut. Private Ciano served with the Connecticut National Guard, The Governor’s Foot Guard and the United States Army. Private Ciano’s daughter, Barbara Ciano Lamontagne will be presenting his father’s honor flag. If inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in Bantam Borough Hall.

Social time with light refreshments will follow the ceremony. The public is encouraged and welcome to attend. Veterans who are interested in joining Post 44 should arrive at 8:30 a.m. for the monthly meeting that will precede the Veteran of the Month ceremony in the Bantam Borough Hall.
Your attendance is requested to honor these two individuals and greet their families.
