đź”´R.E.D. Friday: Remember Everyone Deployed – December 1st, 2023

As we mark another R.E.D. Friday, let’s honor the dedication of the forward-positioned Marine Corps task force currently engaged in the Keris Marine Exercise (MAREX) 2023 in Indonesia. This exercise, underway from Nov 23rd to Dec 11th, sees around 300 U.S. and Indonesian Marines collaborating closely.

Their joint activities focus on enhancing maritime domain awareness, coastal defense, joint fires, and utilizing small unmanned aerial systems. Led by the Marine Rotational Force-Southeast Asia (MRF-SEA), these efforts aim not only to bolster capabilities but also foster stronger bonds between the U.S. and Indonesian forces.

This year’s MAREX holds a special emphasis on urban warfare, utilizing local villages as simulated training areas for real-world scenarios. The Indonesian Marine Corps, echoing the sentiments of Col. Bambang Dillanto, views this exercise as a crucial opportunity to strengthen inter-corps relations for future challenges.

Moreover, MRF-SEA is working hand-in-hand with the U.S. Army’s Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node (TITAN) to enhance coastal defense and maritime sensing. The incorporation of AI and machine learning by TITAN marks a significant leap in intelligence analysis, expediting the kill chain while lightening the load on analysts.

As we wear red today, let’s stand in solidarity and gratitude for the dedication and hard work of our deployed forces, forging stronger ties and enhancing capabilities for a safer, more secure future.
