After his military service, Alexander built a fulfilling career as an Operating Engineer with White Oak Local . His professional life reflected his dedication and skill, but it was his personal passions and commitment to his community that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A lifelong parishioner of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Alexander’s faith was central to his life. He was also an active member of the Bristol and Thomaston Fish & Game Clubs, the American Legion Plymouth Post , and the former Ukrainian Club, where he fostered friendships and contributed to the vibrant fabric of his community.

Alexander had a profound connection to nature, finding joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and breeding beagles and springer spaniels for hunting. His neighbors often admired his energy and determination, as he remained active well into his later years, tending to his home and outdoor spaces with the same vigor he carried throughout his life.

Alexander’s legacy lives on through his loving family: his son, Gary A. Gromoshak of Terryville; his daughters, Theresa Manchester of Plainville and Sandra L. Gromoshak of Hudson, NH; his stepdaughter, Jean Bonito of Ossining, NY; and his granddaughter, Alexandra M. Manchester of Bristol, CT, along with her children, Kameron and Ethan Turan. He is also fondly remembered by his stepdaughter Judith Meachem’s children, Jerry, Joseph, and JoAnn, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Though Alexander passed away on March 8, 2020, his memory continues to inspire those who knew and loved him. As we commemorate his birthday, we reflect on the life of a man who embodied strength, kindness, and an enduring spirit.

Today, we celebrate not just the day Alexander was born but the incredible legacy he left behind. His life, filled with service, love, and a passion for the outdoors, is a testament to a life well-lived.
