Michael David “Mike” Hatt was born on August 15, 1951, in Biddeford, Maine. He passed away on August 22, 2019, at Hartford Hospital. Michael’s life was marked by dedication and service, beginning with his youth in Meriden, Connecticut, and extending to his years as a Marine during the Vietnam War.

After his military service, Michael became an integral part of the Hartford Crisis Team and dedicated his career to social work with the State of Connecticut before his retirement. In recent years, he resided at St. Francis House in New London, where he was actively involved in peace advocacy alongside his friend Cal.

Michael is remembered fondly by his daughters, Jessica Hatt and Alison (Nathan) Joslin; his devoted ex-wife, Catherine Hatt; and his siblings, Barbara (Charles) Dziedzic, Daniel (Lou) Hatt, Cindy (Bruce) Sturgis, and Thomas (Karin) Hatt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life was held on September 1 at St. James Episcopal Church in New London. Michael’s burial was private. In his memory, the family requested donations to St. Francis House, 30 Broad St., New London, CT 06320.

Michael David Hatt’s life, marked by his service and compassion, will be remembered with great respect and fondness by all who knew him.
