As we remember Ralph E. Poesnecker on this anniversary of his passing, we celebrate a life filled with service, love, and dedication. Ralph, who passed away on October 2, 2004, at the age of 92, leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire those who knew and loved him.
Born on January 19, 1912, in Seattle, Washington, Ralph was the son of Eli and Lisa Poesnecker. His early life set the stage for what would become a remarkable journey, one that took him across the skies and into the heart of World War II. A proud veteran of the Army Air Corps, Ralph served his country with distinction during one of the most challenging periods in history. His passion for flight extended beyond his military service, as he became a pilot and flight instructor, sharing his love for aviation with others.
Ralph spent more than 50 years in Lake Elsinore, California, before moving to South Windsor, Connecticut, where he lived for the last seven years of his life. His deep bond with his beloved wife, Gerry, was a testament to the strength of their partnership. Together, they built a family that would grow to include children, grandchildren, and extended loved ones, all of whom cherished Ralph for the wisdom and warmth he brought into their lives.
He is survived by his son, Gary, and daughter-in-law, Connie, of South Glastonbury, and his daughter, Susanne, and son-in-law, William Cesana, of Glastonbury. Ralph was also a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren: Taia and Traci Cesana, and Bailey, Eli, and Samuel Poesnecker. His sister, Esther Poesnecker of Tacoma, Washington, also remembers him fondly.
Ralph’s dedication to both his family and his country will forever be a source of pride. His life was marked by courage, service, and love, and he will always be remembered as a man who stood tall in the face of adversity and whose contributions will not be forgotten.
On this day, we honor the memory of Ralph Poesnecker, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and veteran. His story is one of devotion to family and country, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
