The Manchester Veterans Coffee House will hold a special evening event on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Army Navy Club, 1090 Main St, Manchester, CT. Complimentary pizza, coffee, and light refreshments will be served. This month’s theme, “Plan, Prepare, Connect: Veterans Support in Action,” features guest speakers, informational tables, and on-site support for veterans and families.

The VA Federal Outreach Team is scheduled to provide information on toxic exposure and the PACT Act, community care, health eligibility, and veteran IDs, though services may be affected by the government shutdown. Attorney Thomas A. Robinson will offer estate planning guidance on wills, trusts, POA, and advance directives. Tom from Tierney Funeral Home will share resources on pre-planning, VA burial benefits, and veteran-specific arrangements. Additional partners, including VBA claim assistance and the Connecticut DVA, are expected.

Newtown Health Fair 2025

Newtown will host its 30th Annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street. Admission is free and open to the public. The fair will feature health screenings, flu shots, wellness information, and community health resources for all ages.

A special Veterans Services section will provide direct assistance, resources, and benefit information for Veterans and their families. VA representatives will be on site to answer questions and assist with healthcare enrollment. Veterans not currently enrolled are encouraged to bring their DD-214 discharge papers to begin the process.

Available resources include caregiver and home support, adaptive sports, suicide prevention programs, VHA healthcare eligibility, social connections for Veterans, CT Department of Veterans Affairs, American Legion resources, dental services inclusive of neurodivergent patients, and Medicare information.

American Legion Post 202 Commander Donna Monteleone said the fair helps connect Veterans with the support they’ve earned. Newtown’s therapy dogs will also be present. For more information, contact the Newtown Health District at (203) 270-4291.
