Today, we celebrate the birthday of David P. Zotti, a World War II veteran whose life was filled with quiet strength, extraordinary talent, and deep love for family and country. Born on September 12, 1925, David’s legacy continues to inspire those who knew him and those who honor the lives of our nation’s veterans.
David was a man of remarkable creativity. He had a gift for transforming wood into timeless works of art—his wildlife carvings, intricate ship models, and beautifully painted scenes were a reflection of the care and detail he brought to every project. His artistic legacy remains a treasured part of his memory.
In 2018, David was honored through the Southwest Florida Honor Flight program with a visit to Washington, DC. Surrounded by fellow veterans, he experienced firsthand the gratitude of a nation that never forgot his service during World War II. It was a moment of recognition that spoke to the values he carried throughout his life.
David’s memory is also a reminder of love’s enduring presence. He is remembered alongside his beloved Madeline, Louise, Bobby, his parents, and his siblings—each of whom held a special place in his heart. His family continues to express their gratitude to his caregiver, Anna, and to the dedicated staff at Gulf Coast Village, who showed him kindness and care in his later years.
Though he is no longer with us, David’s birthday remains a time to reflect on a life well lived—a life of service, of beauty, and of deep devotion to others.
