Defying Segregation To Shape History, The Buffalo Soldiers

Defying Segregation To Shape History, The Buffalo Soldiers
Saturday, October 18, 2025,
1:00 – 3:00 PM
Visit the Museum and learn about the Army’s Buffalo Soldiers as told by Storyteller and Living History Performer, Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti. The United States Army 10th Calvary Regiment was formed in Kansas in 1866 and consisted of Black American Soldiers to serve on the American frontier. The nickname “Buffalo Soldiers” was given to the regiments as a sign of respect by the Native American tribes who fought against them. They served in the Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, World War I and II until the military was desegregated in 1948.
Buffalo Soldiers had earned 30 Medals of Honor, as well as numerous campaign and unit citations.
Please email: SOSIwoJima@yahoo.com or call Gary at (860) 810-8736 to reserve your spot. Donations of $5 for the museum are greatly appreciated.
