Please join the Memorial Day Parade! Spectators are invited to gather along the Trumbull Highway side of the Historic Lebanon Green for the parade that begins at 10 am, and gather for the ceremony following the parade at Lebanon Town Hall.

All Veterans are invited to be a part of the Lebanon Memorial Day parade, hosted by the American Legion, followed by a ceremony at the town hall.

A Veterans float is available for those who wish to ride. A guest of your choosing is also welcome to accompany any veteran. The float will depart from the town hall at 9am to head to the starting location at the far end of the green and return to town hall at the conclusion of the parade for the Memorial Day Ceremony. Veterans are invited to park or be dropped off at the town hall, and board the veterans float before 9 am. Veterans who wish to walk are invited to walk in front of the float with the American Legion. Please gather at the end of the green closest to the First Baptist Church prior to 10 am.

Parade steps off at the corner of East Robbins and Main Streets.

10:30 the parade will step off after a moment of silence in honor of the thirty town residents who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our freedom since World War I.

Newington has the proud reputation for presenting one of the largest and best attended parades in the state. Numerous town organizations, youth groups, scouting organizations and local businesses in conjunction with the planning committee all contribute to the success of both the Parade and Town Hall Ceremony.

Majority of marchers assemble by 10:00am on Walsh Ave near Badger Little League Field.  Parade goes north on Main towards the center of Newington and in left (West) on Garfield St to Mill Pond Park across from town hall. [1.5 miles]

The American Legion Post 202 family will hold their annual Memorial Day Weekend observance on Saturday, May 24 at 5 PM at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Main Street, Newtown (across from Edmond Town Hall).

Music will be performed by Newtown High School’s Tri-M Club. Featured songs include Taps, The National Anthem, and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Opening remarks will be delivered by U.S. Army Major Robert Payne III. Participants include local officials, veterans, and student musicians and singers.

Colchester’s 2025 Memorial Day Parade Notice (Condensed)

Colchester’s annual Memorial Day Parade will take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Local groups are encouraged to participate, and applications for marching units or floats will be available online from the First Selectman’s Office after March 31.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the End of the Vietnam War,” honoring local veterans who served during that era. The parade will feature several military units, including the Army National Guard 1109th TASM-G, U.S. Navy, Marine Reserve, Coast Guard, and Air Force Reserve. A Grand Marshal and guest speaker will be announced soon, with residents invited to submit nominations.

Prizes will be awarded for the best volunteer unit, best themed float, and most creative float. Mark your calendars and consider joining or attending this tribute to Colchester’s veteran community.

The annual Essex Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 26th,

starting at 9 am.

Participants will assemble at the foot of Main Street in Essex at 8:45 am. This year the parade will follow a shorter route, starting at the Essex waterfront to the Essex Town Hall where it will stop for a prayer and a salute after which it will continue to the Essex Veterans’ Memorial Hall in Centerbrook. There, a ceremony and the conclusion of the Parade will take place at approximately 10:30 am.

There will be clam chowder, hot dogs, and ice cream served by the members of the Essex Veterans’ Memorial Hall.

The Essex Veterans will be honoring veterans at the Riverview Cemetery, First Baptist Church Cemetery, and Centerbrook Cemetery on Saturday May 24th at 10AM.

The Memorial Day observance will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26. All veterans are welcome to march—no residency or uniform required. Non-profit civic groups may also participate. Veterans wishing to carry a flag or wreath should contact a parade committee member.This solemn parade honors Memorial Day, community spirit, and American history. Floats, unauthorized vehicles, and the tossing of candy are prohibited. Vendors are asked not to sell items during the event. In case of bad weather, the parade may be shortened, but the ceremony on the Higganum green will be held rain or shine. Marchers should assemble between 9:00–9:15 a.m. at Lake Avenue and Route 81. Bus transportation will be available from the Haddam Veterans Museum.

The Town of Trumbull hosts an annual Memorial Day Parade to remember and honor the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The event typically features veterans and dignitaries, antique cars, marching bands, color guards, schools, scouts, and sports teams. In recognition of the lives lost in Vietnam, a brief ceremony and wreath-laying will occur at 8:00 AM at the Vietnam Memorial on White Plains Road. All are welcome to attend.

The ceremony will begin at 9:00 AM  in front of Town Hall. A wreath-laying ceremony, honoring those lives lost in other wars will also be held at Town Hall. Please join us for this ceremony.

The parade itself will step off at 10:00 AM, beginning at the new shopping plaza, Long Hill Market, and ending at Town Hall.

The Ridgefield Memorial Day Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26, starting at Jesse Lee Memorial Church and ending in Ballard Park. A wreath-laying ceremony with a 21-gun salute and Taps will precede the parade.

Capt. Frank Casey, a decorated Vietnam veteran and Grand Marshal, will speak at the closing ceremony in Ballard Park.

The parade includes six marching bands, numerous floats, vehicles, and approximately 1,500 participants. Staging takes place between 10–11 a.m. on King Lane (enter from High Ridge only). King Lane will be one-way from 9:30 a.m. until the parade passes. No parking is allowed in the drop-off area, except for authorized vehicles. American Legionnaires will assist with staging.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony in Ballard Park to honor fallen service members.
