CVB’S Thursday 12 March 2026 Preview of Saturday’s Calendar Publication.

In this week’s Thursday Preview, we spotlight the latest additions to our Veterans Calendar for the upcoming Saturday, 14 March 2026 Edition. These events and programs are thoughtfully curated to support and engage Connecticut’s veteran community.

For a complete list of events and more details, please refer to the full Connecticut Veterans Calendar in our upcoming publication or though our previous publication doesn’t include the events here, it has the all others.

The Connecticut Veterans Bulletin Thursday 12 March 2026 Preview highlights newly added events that will appear in the upcoming Saturday, 14 March 2026 edition of the Connecticut Veterans Calendar publication. Each week, the Thursday Preview introduces programs, ceremonies, fundraisers, and community gatherings that strengthen connections across Connecticut’s veteran community.

This week’s preview reflects the continued commitment of veterans organizations, nonprofits, municipalities, and community partners across the state. These events create opportunities for veterans and their families to connect, support one another, and participate in programs that promote service, recognition, and community engagement.

Among the newly added events is the 13th Annual Shamrock Shuffle in Oakville on March 14, organized through the Watertown Parks and Recreation Department. The community run and walk supports veteran programs associated with local VFW and American Legion organizations while bringing families together for a charitable cause. Events like this demonstrate how Connecticut communities regularly combine recreation with meaningful support for veterans.

Veterans service organizations continue to host community-centered gatherings as well. A traditional Connecticut 9-5 card tournament will be held at Couch-Pipa VFW Post 6851 in Canaan, continuing a longstanding regional card-playing tradition that brings veterans and community members together for friendly competition and camaraderie.

Local posts are also hosting community meals that serve as informal meeting places for veterans and supporters. Raymond T. Goldbach VFW Post 9460 in Stratford will host its Sunday Funday featuring Mary’s Famous Meatball Grinders, while American Legion Post 165 in Wolcott prepares to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a traditional corned beef dinner and community gathering supporting the post’s veteran programs.

Several large-scale community events supporting veterans are also included in this preview. Easterseals Capital Region will host the 39th Annual Crystal Ball gala in Weatogue, a major fundraising event that supports programs assisting veterans and individuals with disabilities. The event will feature keynote speaker Colonel (Ret.) Eric Lopez, a decorated U.S. Army officer whose leadership experience reflects the resilience and service honored throughout the evening.

Community breakfasts remain a staple of veterans organization outreach. Waterbury-Naugatuck VFW Post 201 will host a popular pancake buffet breakfast later in March, bringing veterans, families, and local residents together in support of the post’s ongoing activities.

Recognition ceremonies honoring veterans remain central to Connecticut’s veteran community calendar. On March 29, Oakville VFW Post 7330 will host a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Ceremony at Oakville Green, honoring the service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans. That same day, the City of Milford and local veterans organizations will host a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day 51st Anniversary event at the Parsons Veterans Auditorium, bringing together speakers, live music from the Vietnam era, and a tribute to those who served.

Service efforts supporting veterans also continue across the state. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 196 in Milford is collecting essential items for residents of the VA Hospital through the end of March, ensuring that veterans receiving care have access to everyday necessities.

Programs promoting recreation and skills development for veterans are also part of this week’s additions. American Legion District 3 will host Veterans Range Night at Artemis Shooting Sports in Orange, offering structured time for veterans to train and practice in a safe and supportive environment.

Looking ahead to April and May, the preview includes several large community events and fundraisers that will appear in the upcoming calendar publication. Westport VFW Post 399 will host the Ten $ Grand Premium Classic Rock concert featuring legendary drummer Corky Laing of Mountain. Additional events include the Smalley Brothers VFW Auxiliary Spring Fling Dance in Windsor Locks, Upstairs Comedy Night at the Westport VFW, and the Jewett City VFW Spring Bazaar featuring local crafts and vendors.

Family-focused events supporting veterans are also scheduled. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 72 will once again partner with the Town of Southington Recreation Department to host the annual Touch-A-Truck event, where families can explore construction, military, and emergency vehicles while supporting veteran programs.

Outdoor recreation and charitable competitions also appear in the calendar preview. The American Legion Post 209 Fishing Derby at Rockwell Park in Bristol will welcome young anglers for a free community fishing event, while the Swinging Fore Vets Golf Tournament at Lyman Orchards will bring supporters together to raise funds benefiting veterans.

Later in May, the American Legion Post 197 Memorial Golf Tournament in Marlborough will provide another opportunity for the community to support local veterans through charitable participation and sponsorship.

Together, these events represent only a portion of the growing number of programs appearing in the Connecticut Veterans Bulletin weekly calendar publication. The Thursday Preview serves as an early look at newly added listings before the full calendar is released each Saturday.

Veterans, families, and community supporters are encouraged to review the upcoming Connecticut Veterans Calendar publication on Saturday, 14 March 2026 for the complete list of events, programs, and activities taking place across the state.

Through continued participation and support, these gatherings reinforce the strong network of veterans organizations and community partners that serve Connecticut’s veterans every day.
