William (Bill) John Fleischauer passed away on November 11, 2019, at Branford Hospice, surrounded by his family. Born on June 25, 1952, in Meriden, Connecticut, Bill led a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.

Bill served his country honorably as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty and camaraderie. Following his military service, Bill worked as a manager at Stop and Shop, where he was known for his strong work ethic and leadership.

A lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7666 in Guilford, Connecticut, Bill was deeply involved in veteran affairs, finding solace and brotherhood among fellow servicemen and women. His commitment to his country and fellow veterans was a cornerstone of his life.

Outside of his professional and military commitments, Bill cherished the simple pleasures of life. He loved to fish and be near the water, activities that brought him great peace and happiness. His love for nature was a reflection of his gentle and reflective spirit.

Bill was a devoted father to Daniel Fleischauer and Carolyn Fleischauer-Grusse and a caring stepfather to Jeffrey Albo. He was also a proud grandfather to his five grandchildren, whom he adored. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Bill was a supportive and loving brother to Patricia Fleischauer-Kahl and Donna Fleischauer-Stasiuski, and a cherished uncle to Rebecca Kahl. He was predeceased by his parents, William Joseph Fleischauer and Rena Maude Harrington-Fleischauer, his niece and Goddaughter Michelle Kahl, and his stepson Mark Albo Sr.

To honor Bill’s memory and celebrate his life, a Celebration of Life event was held on December 7, 2019, from 7 PM to 10 PM at the Guilford VFW Post 7666, located at 57 Mill Road, Guilford, CT 06437. Family, friends, and community members came together to remember Bill’s life and the indelible impact he had on those around him.

Bill’s legacy of service, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he served so faithfully.

Rest in peace, Bill. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and your spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know you.
