Veteran Volunteers Needed in Connecticut: Join Masonicare Hospice in Honoring Those Who Served

Veteran-to-Veteran Hospice Volunteers Needed Across Connecticut
Masonicare Offers Unique Opportunity to Serve Fellow Veterans

Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, a respected nonprofit healthcare provider in Connecticut, is seeking veterans to step forward and serve as hospice volunteers in a program that honors and supports those who served our country. With a flexible schedule, free training, and a meaningful mission, this initiative offers veterans the chance to provide camaraderie, comfort, and recognition to fellow veterans in their final journey.

Pamela McCauley, a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and Volunteer Coordinator with Masonicare, is leading this effort to recruit compassionate veterans who want to give back in a unique and impactful way. Masonicare is a Level 4 partner in the nationally recognized We Honor Veterans program, which equips hospice organizations to provide specialized care that addresses the unique needs of veterans at the end of life.

“We are continually seeking veterans to volunteer with veterans in hospice,” said McCauley. “This is a chance to offer more than just companionship—it’s about creating meaningful moments between those who share the bond of service.”

Volunteers offer:

  • Camaraderie and social support
  • Personalized recognition with a certificate and flag pin
  • Opportunities to refer veterans to social workers with VA contacts for potential benefits assistance

Volunteers are never alone in their mission. Masonicare provides free training and ensures that each volunteer’s schedule is as flexible as their availability allows. By partnering a veteran with a veteran, Masonicare creates a special space for trust, dignity, and mutual understanding during a deeply personal time.

Masonicare, founded over a century ago, is known for its comprehensive senior care services across Connecticut, including home health, hospice, skilled nursing, and assisted living. As a nonprofit with a deep commitment to service, it consistently earns high trust ratings from patients and families. The organization’s long-standing emphasis on dignity, integrity, and mission-based care continues to resonate in its veteran volunteer initiative.
