Bill Thibeault’s journey from Vietnam veteran to filmmaker is as inspiring as the stories he tells. Surviving the worst naval disaster of the Vietnam War when his ship, the USS Frank E. Evans, collided with the Australian aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne, Bill lost 74 of his shipmates in the tragedy. Despite their involvement in the Vietnam War, these 74 names are not on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall due to the incident occurring outside the combat zone. This omission led Bill to write the song “Recognition” in 2018, a heartfelt tribute to his fallen comrades, which he released on an album of the same name in January 2019.

Bill Thibeault has continued to channel his experiences and emotions into his creative endeavors, producing films and music videos in Connecticut and Rhode Island. His dedication to honoring the memories of his fellow veterans is evident in every project he undertakes. His YouTube channel, [Bill Thibeault Productions](www.youtube.com/@BillThibeaultProductions), boasts 791 subscribers and 130 videos, showcasing his diverse talents and commitment to storytelling.

“Put The Stone Down” is not just a film; it is a testament to the resilience and courage of veterans. It sheds light on the often-overlooked struggles they face and serves as a call to action for greater awareness and support.
