We are coordinating with Town DPW, professionals, and the State. These 2 abandoned Cemeteries have been overgrown and claimed by the Forest. As there is a Civil War Monument in Bowen Cemetery, we are going to re-claim the Cemetery, clear-cut it and move forward with preserving this Veteran’s Monument! Any help is needed and appreciated! New Haven Memorial Day Ceremonies
Sunday May 25, 2025
Commemorating the men and women who died while in military service, the City of New Haven Memorial Day ceremonies will be on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Elm City and regional residents are invited to attend the two traditional programs and wreath-laying ceremonies.
At 1:00 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park on Long Wharf Drive. Senior Chief Petty Officer James Hatch, author, educator, former Navy SEAL and founder of Spike’s K9 Fund will be the principal speaker.
At 3:00 p.m., there will be a second ceremony at the World War Memorial Flagpole on the New Haven Green. Lt. Col. Joseph Danao, Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, will be the principal speaker. New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker will offer remarks.
