Edgar R. Hensley Jr., age 57, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Leilani R. (Kaleikini), entered eternal life Thursday, February 8, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Hensley was born April 9, 1949, in DeKalb, Ill., son of the late Edgar R, and Joyce Arlene (Cadie) Hensley Sr., and had been a Bridgeport resident for 27 years. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart, the Presidential Unit Citation and Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame. He was an employee of Saint Michael’s Cemetery for eight years as well as a night supervisor for Home Depot for 11 years. He was an avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed blue fishing at Saint Mary’s by the Sea, cat fishing on Lake Lillinohna and loved to bowl in Stratford’s Town Fair Lanes and Fairfield’s Nutmeg Bowl. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three sons, Edgar R. Hensley III and his wife, Daisy, Kimo A. Hensley and Joseph K. Hensley, all of Bridgeport; four daughters, Tammy Lynn I. Gallagher and her husband, Roy, of California, Dorine E. Manlapit of Bridgeport, Kiera Hensley of California and Krista Mack and her husband, Jeffrey, of California; one sister, Cheryl Hessels of Shelton; 12 grandchildren, Taylor Hensley, Jeffrey Mack Jr., Ariana Costanzo, Shayla M. Manlapit, Lawrence P. Manlapit III, Davian Manlapit, Kaiya Manlapit, Alec D. Hensley, Kimo A. Hensley, Leilah Hensley, Sarah Hensley and Sage Hensley; many nieces and nephews, including his niece, Dawn Hessels and nephew Ronald Hessels; many grand-nieces and nephews; great-great grand-nieces and nephews; and his extended family in Hawaii, Illinois and Tennessee. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ronald Hessels Sr.
