As we mark a special occasion today, we celebrate the life and lasting impact of Norman J. Beaupre Jr. His birthday serves as a poignant reminder of the love he shared with family and friends, his unwavering dedication to community service, and the cherished memories that continue to inspire us all.

Norman Joseph Beaupre Jr., born on July 18, 1949, in Hartford, Connecticut, peacefully concluded his earthly journey on January 12, 2020, at the age of 70, as he was called to his eternal home. Norman’s life was a testament to his deep devotion to God, family, and country. Serving with distinction in the United States Army’s special forces for 15 years, Norman was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life, where he continued to exemplify dedication and leadership in his community.

Norman shared his life with two cherished partners. His first marriage to Kathy Duke blessed him with two daughters, Tracy Koonce of Brookford, NC, and Lorraine McCready of Stafford, VA. In 1981, he found his soulmate in Jahala Jean, celebrating 38 years of joyous marriage together and welcoming two more children, Danielle Beaupre-Boncek of Pomfret, CT, and Norman “Beau” Beaupre III of Woodstock Valley, CT.

Beyond his family, Norman’s commitment to community service was profound. He was actively involved in American Legion Post 13, the New England Western Dance Association, and notably served as Commander of VFW Post 1523 for a remarkable eight years, leaving an indelible mark as the longest-tenured commander in its history. An avid card player, pool enthusiast, and dedicated sound engineer for his wife’s band, Norman found joy in music, dance, and social camaraderie.

Norman Beaupre’s enduring legacy lives on through his beloved wife, children, three brothers, two sisters, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and countless friends who carry his memory in their hearts. He has now reunited with his parents, Norman and Lorraine Beaupre, his first wife Kathy, and his brother in arms, Joe, in eternal peace.

In accordance with Norman’s wishes, there was no formal viewing. A Memorial Service was held on January 18, 2020, at the Albert J. Breault VFW Post 1523 in Putnam, CT, where family and close friends gathered to celebrate his rich and fulfilling life.
