VFW Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen 2025-2026
The VFW offers two major youth scholarship programs to promote patriotism: Voice of Democracy for high school students and Patriot’s Pen for middle schoolers. Voice of Democracy awards over $1.4 million annually, with a top prize of $35,000 for the best audio essay. The 2025–2026 theme is “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?”Patriot’s Pen invites students in grades 6–8 to submit a written essay for a chance to win part of nearly $1 million in prizes, including a $5,000 grand prize. Entries for both programs are due to local VFW Posts by midnight, October 31.
