
Scott C. Hampton, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 9, 2020, at the age of 57 after a long battle with illness. A native of Connecticut, Scott was born in Manchester on October 10, 1962, to the late Herbert and Georgianna (Clarke) Hampton. He spent his formative years in Tolland, where he graduated from Tolland High School before proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
Scott’s life was defined by his love for the great outdoors and his unwavering passion for sports. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he deeply supported the National Rifle Association. Whether cheering for the Raiders, the UCONN Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, or the Boston Red Sox, Scott’s love for sports was evident in all aspects of his life.
At the heart of Scott’s life was his family. He was a loving husband to Linda Hampton and a proud father to his daughters, Christine Russell and her husband Paul Warner, Juliette Russell and her partner Peter Griffith, and Colleen Russell. His role as a grandfather brought him great joy, and he cherished his time with his grandchildren Katie, Kyle, Allison, Sean, Dylan, Colin, and Jeremiah, as well as his great-grandson Nicholas. Scott is also survived by his brother Robert Hampton and his wife Louanne, his sister Sherri Pope, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Dannie Hampton in 2006 and his nephew Matthew Hampton in 2009.
Throughout his life, Scott touched the hearts of those who knew him, whether through his loyalty, his sense of humor, or his dedication to his loved ones. His memory will live on in the stories shared by family and friends, and his legacy of service, love, and passion for life will not be forgotten.
Though he is no longer with us, Scott’s spirit remains alive in the hearts of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed but remembered always with love and admiration.
