New Britain, Conn., July 5, 2024The Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open, firmly established as Connecticut’s premier veterans charity golf event, returns for its 14th edition on Friday, September 27, at Tunxis Country Club. Presented by Liberty Bank, this event benefits the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Hardware City Chapter 8, House of Heroes Connecticut, and other local veterans’ causes.

Event Details and Impact

Over the years, the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open has raised more than $205,000, supporting veterans, military members, and their families. This year, the event anticipates attracting over 200 golfers and aims to raise around $25,000.

Honoring Local Veterans

This year’s event will feature the presentation of The Angelo Tomasso, Sr. and Angelo Tomasso, Jr. Veteran of Distinction Award during the post-golf dinner. This award honors veterans who have made significant impacts through exemplary military service and community leadership. The 2024 honorees are Sal Sena of Newington, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame, and the late Robert Dornfried, Sr., a Korean War Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient who served his community selflessly for decades. Each honoree will designate a $1,000 DAV Chapter 8 donation to a local veteran charity of their choice.

Registration and Sponsorship

Golf registration is $175, including range, greens fees, cart, premium gift bag, lunch, beverages, prizes, post-golf dinner, silent auction, and raffle. The shotgun start is at 11 a.m. Dinner-only registration is available for $75. Various sponsorships, from $125 for a tee sign to $5,000 for a Diamond Sponsorship, are available.
