As Veterans Day approaches, we at CVB are proud to rally behind USAF veteran Eric Schessl and the team at Irreverent Warriors Connecticut (IWCT) in their efforts to raise awareness and support for veterans. This year, Eric Schessl, a dedicated USAF veteran and Team Captain of IWCT, is participating in the Veterans Day Virtual 5K, a crucial event that not only honors our nation’s veterans but also strengthens the bonds within the veteran community.

Stand with Eric Schessl and Irreverent Warriors Connecticut

Eric Schessl has been a powerful advocate for his fellow veterans, leading the charge in Connecticut and standing as an example of leadership and resilience. By supporting Eric and IWCT through donations or by participating in the Veterans Day Virtual 5K, you help promote the health and well-being of veterans, many of whom face challenges long after their service has ended.

Irreverent Warriors: A Lifeline for Veterans

While CVB is not directly affiliated with Irreverent Warriors, we deeply appreciate the incredible work this organization does to support veterans. Irreverent Warriors understands that the best support system for veterans is often built by veterans themselves. Through their therapeutic events across the country, they bring veterans together in a way that fosters connection, camaraderie, and healing. IWCT is more than just an event organizer—it’s a beacon of hope for many who feel isolated after returning from service.

Uniting Veterans for a Greater Cause

Irreverent Warriors’ vision is to unite the veteran community and cultivate a positive, healthy culture. This mission resonates deeply with CVB’s own values of fostering connection and support for those who have served. Through humor, camaraderie, and creative engagements, they are creating an environment where veterans can lean on one another, form meaningful relationships, and prevent the isolation that too often leads to tragic outcomes.

A Mission We Can All Support

Irreverent Warriors’ mission is clear: to improve veterans’ mental health and prevent suicide through strong connections and a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. As veterans come together at events like the Veterans Day Virtual 5K, they build the bonds that will carry them through tough times. These connections are critical in solving one of the most pressing issues facing veterans today—social isolation.

Many veterans, like Eric Schessl, have experienced the kind of pain and trauma that can feel overwhelming, whether overseas or at home. By participating in events like the 5K, veterans can find humor and camaraderie, a vital part of maintaining a positive mental outlook. CVB recognizes the importance of these moments and stands with Irreverent Warriors in their mission.
