Step back in time and experience a full day of living history at the Nellie McKnight Museum! Both the 54th Regiment of Foot (British) and the Ye Old Lebanon Town Militia (American) will bring the sights, sounds, and stories of the Revolutionary War to life with an immersive reenactment camp. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy fascinating demonstrations, drills, and hands-on activities for all ages, including:18th-Century British Army Field Hospital Demonstration, See how battlefield medicine was practiced during the Revolution.Military Drills for Children – Young recruits can learn marching and commands! Firearms of the 1700s (Colonial Camp) – Discover the weapons used by both sides. British Officer Overview & Fencing Tutorial – Learn the art of swordsmanship and the discipline of command. Children’s Mock Battle – The next generation joins the fight! Skirmish! – Watch as British forces move on the Colonial Camp to reclaim their deserters in an exciting live-action encounter. Camp Tours -Stroll through the encampments and chat with soldiers and camp followers. 18th-Century Soccer Match – Cheer on soldiers as they take a break from battle for a friendly game! Mock Trial of Deserters – Witness justice 18th-century style! Guests are encouraged to heckle the British officers—will the militia come to the rescue? A Quilts of Valor Connecticut “Sew Day” is a volunteer gathering where quilters come together to create handmade quilts for veterans and service members as a gesture of gratitude and healing. Participants work collaboratively—cutting fabric, piecing quilt tops, and sewing bindings—while sharing fellowship and appreciation for those who serve. Each completed quilt is later presented to a veteran in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
