Attendees will learn proper methods for cleaning, resetting, and repairing gravestones, with participation encouraged. Dress appropriately. Pizza will be provided. Colchester Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony 2026

On Sunday May 24th, 2026 starting at 12:30 PM, Colchester will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade.  The Parade is a community effort supported by local groups that are committed to make this event a success.  We strive to show the pride we feel in our departed military veterans by asking local organizations and members of the community to step up and participate by making a float or marching in the annual parade. The parade committee is expecting to have several military units represented.  They will include  the Connecticut Army National Guard, 1109th TASM-G, U S Navy US Marine Reserve, and the US Air Force Reserve.  Maybe we will have a military aircraft flyover Colchester also. Our American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Colchester Veterans Honor Guard will also participate.  There is plenty of room for community organizations to help fill in our ranks.
The electronic application to join this year’s Memorial Day Parade is available using this link.  Hard copies will be available through the First Selectman’s office if needed.

The Parade Committee will award prizes in three categories:
1. Best volunteer marching unit
2. Most patriotic float
3. Most creative float
We encourage any veteran, or local organization in Colchester and our surrounding towns to join us in honoring our fallen heroes.

West Haven CT Memorial Day Parade 2026

The city’s Memorial Day parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2026.

A West Haven veteran will serve as grand marshal and lead the procession of vets, dignitaries and bands along the 1 ½-mile parade route, which follows Campbell Avenue from Captain Thomas Boulevard to Center Street.

The grand marshal is tapped by the West Haven Veterans Council, which helps the city organize the annual parade, for years of service to the military, fellow vets and the community, the latter of which is the cornerstone of the qualifications for grand marshal, council President Dave Ricci said.

This year’s edition of southern Connecticut’s oldest and largest Memorial Day parade has no rain date and will include three marching divisions and a military division, as well as special accommodations for disabled veterans.

Stay tuned for more details.
