Public Hearing Set to Strengthen Veteran Benefits in Connecticut

Public Hearing Set to Strengthen Veteran Benefits in Connecticut

Next Thursday, February 13, 2025, the Veterans’ and Military Affairs Committee will hold a public hearing to discuss several key bills aimed at improving benefits and protections for Connecticut veterans. Among the most significant proposals is S.B. 1276, a bill designed to correct gaps in last year’s property tax exemption for veterans with a 100% permanent and total disability rating.

The original legislation, while well-intentioned, contained vague language that left certain property-related expenses uncovered. S.B. 1276 seeks to address these issues and ensure that disabled veterans receive the full exemption they were initially promised. The hearing will provide veterans, advocates, and the public an opportunity to voice their support or concerns regarding the bill.
