HELP WANTED BAR MANAGER
PART-TIME POSITION
Position Title: Bar Manager
Reports to House Chairman
Location: American Legion Frank C. Godfrey Post 12 60 County Street Norwalk, CT 06851
Hourly Wage Range: starting at $16.00/hour with the opportunity to pick up bartender shifts at $10.75/hour plus tips.
GENERAL:
The position is to manage all the operations of the bar/canteen at Post 12. Responsibilities include daily operation of the bar and coordinating with the Hall Rental Manager.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Check Bar stock every day and restock as needed.
Reconcile bartender’s daily shift bags and enter sales records.
Review liquor/beer inventory and order from appropriate approved distributors. (Weekly)
Make bank deposits as required.
Pay distributors and vendors as needed.
Payroll entries (weekly)
Coordinate with Post Officers and other staff for Post events & Ceremonies.
Supervise and maintain staffing for all bartender shifts.
Oversee hiring of entertainment for Post scheduled events.
Respond to local charity organizations requests for Hall use (coordinate with Hall Rental Manager)
Provide assistance with other tasks as directed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess strong communication and office skills. Must be observant, detail-oriented, and courteous.
Able to review/respond to vendor & contractor requests.
Must be available for large events (weekends) to assist as needed for rental and Post events.
SECURITY:
Must be 21 years old and successfully pass a complete a criminal background check
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Restaurant, Bar, and/or Catering Hall managerial experience preferred.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc., and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to read/write & communicate in English.
OTHER SKILLS THAT ARE HELPFUL:
Hands-on experience in cashier duties; familiar with POS systems, computer literate. Ability to fill in for bartenders during events. (Connecticut TIPS Certification required)
Bilingual including Spanish is helpful.

I am not a veteran. I am a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary. But in 1991, personal loss brought me to a place I never left.
Over two decades later, that loss led me to the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, Connecticut, where I took on the coordination of Wreaths Across America — which grew into the largest and fastest growing veterans program in the state. I didn’t do it for recognition. I did it for them.
In 2016 I founded the Connecticut Veterans Bulletin. Not because I served, but because I believe those who did deserve to be honored, connected, and kept alive.
Twenty-two veterans die by suicide every day. I knew about that number before it became a hashtag. I knew it personally, long before anyone was talking about it.
This publication exists because that number is unacceptable. Because every veteran in Connecticut deserves to know someone gives a damn.
That someone is me.
