This Saturday, House of Heroes Connecticut continues its vital mission by providing essential, no-cost home maintenance to two more local households, bringing their incredible cumulative impact to 312 veterans and military families served across our state since 2012.

TWO MORE VETERANS, IN NORWALK AND WEST HAVEN, TO BE HONORED AND SERVED BY HOUSE OF HEROES CONNECTICUT
Norwalk Widow of Korean War-Era Vet and West Haven Marine to Receive No-Cost Home Repairs; Total Vets Served Now at 312
WHAT: House of Heroes Connecticut (HOHCT), the Hamden-based non-profit Veterans Service Organization that provides one-day, no-cost home repairs for Vets in need, will assist the surviving spouse of a Norwalk Korean War-era Veteran, as well as a West Haven Marine, this Saturday, bringing the total number of Veterans served by the non-profit Veterans Service Organization to 312 since its 2012 founding.
The Project Partners for Saturday’s jobs are the Knights of Columbus Bishop Fenwick Assembly and Greenwich Hospital (Norwalk) and Annawon Lodge 115 of the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons (West Haven).
A 501(c)(3) non-profit, HOHCT recognizes, honors and serves military and public safety veterans and/or their surviving spouses in need by providing one-day, no-cost home repairs focusing on safety and accessibility. For more information, visit http://www.hohct.org.

I am not a veteran. I am a member of the Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary. But in 1991, personal loss brought me to a place I never left.
Over two decades later, that loss led me to the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, Connecticut, where I took on the coordination of Wreaths Across America — which grew into the largest and fastest growing veterans program in the state. I didn’t do it for recognition. I did it for them.
In 2016 I founded the Connecticut Veterans Bulletin. Not because I served, but because I believe those who did deserve to be honored, connected, and kept alive.
Twenty-two veterans die by suicide every day. I knew about that number before it became a hashtag. I knew it personally, long before anyone was talking about it.
This publication exists because that number is unacceptable. Because every veteran in Connecticut deserves to know someone gives a damn.
That someone is me.
